If you’re planning on crossing the pond from America, there’s probably a good chance you’ll want to spend time visiting London pubs. Most people could make a strong argument that it doesn’t take an Oxford education to figure out how to order a beer in Britain. I absolutely agree with that.
However, as an American in London married to an Englishman, who brags about being christened in a pub (true story), I can definitely attest to differences between going to American bars and visiting London pubs.
Before you watch this YouTube video, know that my husband (AKA ‘Mr Sunny’) has spent substantial time in London pubs. He and his parents were born in London. Regularly going to pubs is part of life in England. Sometimes I feel like they’ve been to and know every pub in town, at least twice. However, I have seen Mr. Sunny and his father take a sneaky look at The Good Pub Guide 2016 on occasion.
If you plan on visiting London and enjoying a pint or two, there are certainly things you MUST know. In this short video, you can learn about how and what to order in different types of pubs and things you should never do. It’s advice you can’t miss, especially if it’s your first time in the UK!
There’s also a Guide to London for Americans Visiting for the First Time on the blog, which has reviews for hotels, restaurants, attractions, afternoon tea, events and more. I look forward to reading your comments about the tips in the video and answering any other questions you might have about the American expat experience in London. Oh, and if you are planning a journey here, be sure to pin this to your London trip board. Of course, you can always share it with friends on other social media too.
