Well some of that is incorrect, Florida is a beach and water a environment sensitive beautiful place with springs and salt water beaches and natural sea turtles and manatees dolphin sites ,that native Florida people try to keep in good shape we were never about guns until red necks from other States and politics change in the last 20 years. We also have very good colleges and at one time very smart and diversely was normal way of life in Florida,And Florida Seafood is still top quality at different places in Florida.
Just came across this and love it. I work next to a transplant from London and we laugh about differences all the time. I'm a second generation Florida native and grew up in Miami but left about 30 years ago. I'm still in the state though. There's nowhere else I'd rather be. My sister moved to Oregon for her husband last year and hates it. It's cold and rains all the time...oh just like the UK I hear. I feel sorry for "Victoria George" above. Too bad she didn't look in the right places for some Florida history or culture that we do have. She should check out the Miccosoukees or the Seminoles. We know all of the neighbors on our block and quite a few around town. You have to be friendly to have people let down their guard. Unlike Victoria, I make a pretty decent wage for a female in IT. Yes, there are some pretty high paying jobs..very close to six figures. So it's all your point of view and what you make of yourself. And I love all the animals, reptiles, etc. Also love the fact I can go swimming, skiing, snorkeling, sun bathing and wear flip flops any time of the year.

I was "brought" to Florida from England 10 years ago when i was 14..i have hated since day 1 and am now saving money to return to the UK. Things i hate about Florida include: super friendly fake people, gun state, no seasonal change..1 season-hotter than hell, 90 degrees on Christmas, hurricanes and tornadoes, sink holes, no culture or history, lots of murders that walk free, no paths/sidewalks (people do not walk), disgusting chocolate, abundance of junkies, disease carrying mosquitoes, snakes, sharks or alligators in any body of water, nothing grows here other than palm trees and the worst seedy oranges, poisonous spiders, bad drivers, sick dying people, white trash, can't trust anybody, insurance offered at my job is $250 a month not including dental or eyes ect, no paid time off, i start work at 9 and end at 7pm, yes everything is cheap! because it is made cheaply, cheap clothes that wear away after being washed twice, cheap food full of crap, cheap houses made of plaster and wooden frames that blow away with the first hurricane, the education system is appalling, children are spoiled and impolite put in daycare from six weeks old and taught no values...i could go on all day..you are actually isolated trapped in your air conditioned house all the time, nobody has actual friends and no body talks to their neighbors..it is a living night mare. (apologies for all spelling errors i typed this rant quickly)

Thank you for reading, Diane! Glad you enjoyed it and agree about the weather. The storms don't last long but they can be rather scary for first timers!

Loved this! As an American originally from NJ whose family now resides in Southern Florida, I can relate. I think French people would appreciate this as well. A friend from the gym went to Miami last year with her family and was bummed seeing the weather ahead of time. She told me it's going to rain the whole trip. I assured her that aside from a few afternoon thunderstorms, everything would be fine and it was.
The FL heat and sun are no joke and I love that it's casual. Enjoyed this one ;-)
