Indonesia- A Home or Travel Destination?

Would you consider Indonesia for your first choice in travel destinations? There are many reasons why this corner of Southeast Asia deserves a chance to be explored. Whether you might be considering a home or just for a quick visit, Indonesia’s 17,500 islands offer up some of the most beautiful options that may have never crossed your mind.

Great Nightlife

Indonesia has an incredible nightlife scene. Music is extremely popular in Indonesia. There isn’t a night that goes by that you can’t find live bands. There are many popular bars and clubs to search and alcohol is not prohibited. Be advised, however, that alcohol prices are quite steeper than they are locally.

When visiting Indonesia, you must give Indonesian food a try.  They have a wide array of selections that should be able to suit everyone in the family.  Some of our local fast food chains can also be found throughout the strips.

You will also be treated to a variety of shows that are offered throughout the city. There is also a range of film festivals and art shows available for those that are culturally motivated. In addition to the many bands playing at the local bars, rock bands and superstars are often performing shows throughout Indonesia.

Good Healthcare

This may come as a surprise to many, but Indonesia does a good job of dealing with medical emergencies.  In the event of any serious emergencies that the local hospitals can’t handle, patients are transported by plane to Singapore, which has a world class medical facility.  

The same can also be said for dental care as the dental costs are much cheaper than what we see locally. There are many private dentists that work in the city that you can find through searches and not have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get your problem resolved

Financially Living in Indonesia

Compared to living locally, Indonesia is a steal!  Whenever you want to eat out for the night, expect the cost of your meal to be considerably cheaper than you would imagine.  However, if you plan to have some alcohol with your meal, the price will change considerably.

If you head out to the grocery stores, expect to be wowed by the cheap prices there as well.  You can get some delicious local fresh produce for great prices. Between their markets and their supermarkets, you will be able to get all the food that you want and still walk away with cash in your pocket.  Just be aware that supermarkets are going to cost you more than shopping at the local markets.

If you are looking to hire someone to watch the kids or clean the house, this will not cost you much either. Nor will trying to contact a cab company. Many people are anxious to get work and will work for cheap pay while delivering a quality performance. Sanitation can be called into question in Indonesia, but the cost of living is very affordable.

Weather

Indonesia is a tropical country that has both a rainy season and a dry season. It does not get overly hot or cold, so your body will remain comfortable with the temperatures. You will just need to adjust to the two types of seasons that you could endure while staying there.

Friendly People

Who doesn’t want to live somewhere surrounded by friendly people? In Indonesia, people are extremely pleasant and eager to help and please you. They love to meet new people and will be very accommodating to your needs. Be warned, however, that you should not shout while in public. In Indonesia, it is considered rude and offensive to yell out loud. Be sure to settle your disputes privately.

It is also important to practice patience. This can be a bit challenging as many of us run on a schedule and like to keep moving. Indonesia moves at their own pace and people will be considerably late at times. Don’t stress out over it because you cannot change it. Just go with the flow.

Religious Beliefs

More than 85% of the country will identify their religion as Muslim. Don’t be alarmed by how religious the Indonesian people are. You need to respect their practices and they won’t bother you about your religious beliefs as long as you don’t bother them either. They have a unique way of worshipping that you will find very interesting.

Enjoy the Beauty

Indonesia is usually not on the top of everyone’s list for best places to travel, but it does offer many exquisite destinations.  There are mountains, lakes, beaches, and beautiful sea life to explore. It is spread all across Indonesia, so you will always have some hidden destination to find.  This is a great place to check out sights that many people never get to experience.

Indonesia might surprise you in ways you never would have thought. If you are on the fence, consider your sense of adventure for a trip you may never forget.
