Reviews, ratings and quirkiness is important to me when I book a London hotel. It may be close to some attractions but central London is so easy to get around - you cant be close to everything. I like Montague on the Garden for its old fashioned charm; Art'otel Battersea for its pool and proximity to Battersea/Chelsea; Melia White House for Regents Park and a bus ride/walk to the West End and The Other House South Ken for Royal Albert Hall and the Parks.

[…] Expert Insight: I recommend to all my trip consultation clients that this is the BEST area to book a hotel for maximum convenience. But be prepared to pay a premium for the excellent location. It is also minutes from dozens of West End theatres and excellent dining. For more guidance, see my article: Travel Tips for Choosing a Hotel When Visiting London. […]

I agree with you in that it is important to consider looking at a map and listing your places of interest when choosing a hotel. It makes sense that doing this can help you find lodging that is close to your destinations and points of interest so you save money. Personally, I would want to look for reviews and ratings to make sure the place has a good reputation and keep their rooms tidy and ready for their guests.
