The Orange Belgravia Pub Review
If you are in the Belgravia neighbourhood in London and love good food, you should visit The Orange Pub.
Mr Sunny and I had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at this London pub recently for the purpose of seeing their refurb and writing a review. The experience is exquisite!
As a pub in the Cubitt House group, The Orange Belgravia doesn’t disappoint! We had kind of predicted this because we have previously eaten at the The Thomas Cubitt pub and The Alfred Tennyson. Both are nearby and feature excellent food and in stunning locations.
The Orange Belgravia Pub- Atmosphere
We visited on a weekday around 1.30pm and were surprised at how busy it was. However, it was half term in London so this could account for nearly all the tables being full. Customers seemed to be a mix of families, couples and business colleagues.
Below you can see the bar area and the upstairs dining room, which was not being used that day.
The Orange Belgravia is spacious and has an energetic vibe. It’s perfect for a celebration with a small group, a meal with with friends or colleagues or a date in London.
The Orange Belgravia Pub- Food
We loved every morsel of food we had during our lunch.
For starters, we chose the Grilled Squid, Za’atar, Aïoli and Deep Fried Burrata, Truffle, Hazelnuts and Chanterelles.
They were both faultless. Mr Sunny thought grilling the squid was a refreshing change. My burrata was beautifully balanced with texture and flavour. It’s exactly what I would order again when I return.
For our Main we splurged and followed the recommendation of the staff and chose the Bistecca a la Fiorentina.
For us it was cooked to perfection. The seasoning was rich and zesty. However, to really appreciate the gorgeous juiciness of this steak (through visuals) you need to watch the Instagram reel I made of the visit to The Orange Belgravia.
For dessert, I had the Doughnuts, Muscovado and Marscapone Custard. To be truthful, I didn’t know how I was going to eat it when I ordered it.
The steak and starters had been so filling, I didn’t have room for anything. But who turns down doughnuts with custard?
These sweet sugar bombs burst with flavour. The custard poured on top was a rich and lovely addition that solidified their appeal.
Suddenly, I had room to finish every bite of them. And you can see the mouth watering pour shot on Instagram too.
The Orange Belgravia Pub- Service
It’s always tough to accurately assess service when you are invited to a restaurant for a complimentary experience. However, we really felt the assistant manager who served us went way above and beyond his role that day.
His knowledge about the menu, food preparation and pairing of items was extremely impressive. He recommended exactly the best dishes for us!
The Orange Belgravia Pub- Final Thoughts
In terms of pub food, most people would classify The Orange Belgravia as ‘posh.’ In fact, calling it a gastropub would probably be better.
If you are looking for excellent food quality and an atmosphere that is more elevated for a pub experience, then The Orange in Belgravia should be on your list of places to eat in London.
While old Victoria boozers have a well earned place on London’s pub scene, if that’s your primary watering hole preference you might not be as happy at The Orange.
It’s a cheery location with a dedicated focus on preparing fresh, seasonal food that registers high with flavour!
