The Bedford Arms Pub Hotel Review
A Cosy Escape: Staying at the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel in Greater London
Looking for a charming getaway with a blend of the English countryside, comfort and great food? The Bedford Arms Pub Hotel in Greater London might just be your perfect destination.
Nestled in the picturesque countryside, this delightful pub hotel offers a relaxing retreat with a touch of luxury. It’s in the heart of the Chilterns, straddling the border of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
The Bedford Arms is a part of the Chenies village history, dating back to the 15th-century. A stay at the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel should be on your travel list of places to stay in England.
Greater London Dog-Friendly Hotel
One of the standout features of the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel is its warm welcome to canines. We brought our rescue dog Jessie along for the trip and the experience exceeded our expectations.
Our room was thoughtfully prepared with a comfortable dog bed, a bowl and a lovely gift hamper. Jessie’s hamper included a chewy treat, dog bags for outdoor strolls, Earl Greyhound tea and other goodies that made her tail wag.
Jessie adored the cosy room and her special treats, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
Fantastic Food at Bedford Arms Pub Hotel
The culinary experience at the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel is nothing short of excellent. This has been our experience every time we have eaten at a Young’s Pub, so this was no surprise to us.
We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the pub, and the meals were memorable. Mr Sunny indulged in traditional fish and chips, which he declared perfectly crispy and delicious.
I opted for a burger, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The burger was the perfect size, not too tall and didn’t fall apart. To me it was a super tasty and hassle-free Main.
Breakfast at the Bedford Arms was equally impressive. I savoured the Eggs Benedict with Salmon. My husband, an Englishman, enjoyed eggs with soldiers, a nostalgic favourite of his.
The pub also offers breakfast cocktails, which could add a fun and indulgent touch to your morning. Or they could serve as ‘the hair of the dog’ if you have too much fun in the pub the evening before!
The quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere made our dining experiences truly special.
Experience and Location
The location of the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel is ideal for those who appreciate the charm of the countryside but want to be close to London. The surrounding area offers plenty of scenic spots to take your dog for a nice walk.
We found the tranquility of the landscape refreshing. The hotel’s proximity to Greater London means you’re not far from city attractions while still enjoying the peace and fresh air of the countryside.
The staff at the Bedford Arms were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Despite being really busy on the Sunday when we stayed, they upheld a warm and inviting atmosphere. The vibe of the pub was local and very enjoyable, with many families dining in the afternoon, adding to the community feel.
Our room was really spacious and comfortable. We especially loved the inclusion of an air conditioner (shown above). While you wouldn’t think this was important in England, if you visit during a heatwave in London, you’ll be glad the room has one!
Bedford Arms Pub Hotel – Final Thoughts
If you’re considering a stay at the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel, you’re in for a treat. When we visited in the summer of 2024, they offered the Young’s Hotels Summer Nights promotion. This included a two-night stay with breakfast, a proper pub meal on either night and a Hugo Spritz on arrival for two people.
This promotion makes for an enticing package that enhances the overall experience. However, our stay was complimentary for the purpose of a review.
I’ve also published Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok videos sharing highlights of our experience if you’d like to see more.
We would definitely stay at the Bedford Arms Pub Hotel again and are looking forward to exploring other Young’s Pub Hotels in London and across England.
The pub hotel is also conveniently located near the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, making it an excellent choice for Harry Potter fans looking to extend their magical adventure.
For those planning a visit, the address is: The Bedford Arms, Chenies, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, WD3 6EQ.
